For residency programs
An oral boards examiner your residents can practice with every day.
Anesthesia Oral Boards is an iPhone app where residents sit full mock SOE stems out loud with an AI examiner, then get graded against the case's written answer key. Programs license it per resident, so a whole class practices between faculty mocks.
Your residents can try it today, free
Every resident can download the app and sit three full cases free, with the examiner and the grade. Nothing to set up on your side: send the link to your class and see what they think.
When you're ready to license it for the class, email [email protected] with your program's name and how many residents. We reply within one business day.
Why programs use it
More reps, same faculty
A mock run like the real exam takes two faculty about 35 minutes per resident. Residents can do a full stem here any evening, and bring sharper answers to the faculty mocks you already run.
No more hunting for partners
Finding someone to practice with, who won't go easy, is the most common complaint from candidates. The examiner is available whenever they are.
Graded against an answer key
Many residents already rehearse with general chatbots and old stems. Here every case has a written answer key, the questions follow the SOE order, and each session ends with a verdict and the points they missed.
It follows them to the exam
Access runs 12 months from the day a resident starts, so a CA-3 who starts in spring keeps it through an exam after graduation.
What residents get
- A voice examiner that works through a full case in the SOE order: 4 preoperative, 6 intraoperative and 3 postoperative questions.
- It waits while they think, probes vague answers and keeps the exam's pace.
- A verdict (pass, borderline or below standard), the critical errors, the high-yield points they missed, and what to study next.
- Hard mode for exam pressure, or study mode, where the examiner corrects them as they go.
- A case bank across the common ABA topic areas, plus cases built around a chosen surgery, disease or complication.
How it works
-
1
Tell us how many residents and when
A one-page order: number of seats and the start date, invoiced to the program.
-
2
Each resident gets a personal invite
Your coordinator sends us the roster and we send every resident their invite. Nothing to install on your side.
-
3
Residents practice for 12 months
Full access to every case and mode, from the day they start.
-
4
You get a monthly summary
Seats in use, residents active, exams completed and hours practiced across the program. No grades and no individual results.
Pricing
$399 per resident for 12 months of access, or $349 per resident when a program licenses 15 or more, invoiced to the program. A resident buying on their own pays $399.99 for 6 months. Fellowships and anesthesia groups that support new graduates through the exam are welcome too.
Questions
Will the program see residents' grades?
No. Grades stay with the resident. The monthly summary shows how much the program as a whole is practicing, never individual results. Residents practice more honestly when a bad session stays private.
Does it replace faculty mock orals?
No. Real examiners remain the best practice. The app adds daily repetitions in between, so faculty time goes further.
Is any patient data involved?
No. Cases are written for the exam, residents speak their answers, and nothing connects to a hospital system. See our Privacy Policy for what the app stores.
How accurate is it?
The exam framework and grading rubrics come from a board-certified anesthesiologist, and every case is graded against its own answer key. The examiner and grader are AI, so they can occasionally be wrong; it is a study tool, not a clinical reference.
How soon can residents start?
Within a few days of the order. Residents who already tried the free cases keep their history; their access simply opens up.
Who makes it?
Two brothers. It started as a voice examiner one built for the other, a board-certified anesthesiologist, so he could practice for his oral boards during fellowship. Med Oral Boards is not affiliated with or endorsed by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Resident or chief resident?
Send this page to your program director or coordinator: medoralboards.com/programs. Most programs already budget for board preparation.
